OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL THE OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (WANTAGE FAIRS)(PROHIBITION OF DRIVING AND WAITING)
(SPECIAL EVENT) ORDER 2011

NOTICE is hereby given that on the 5 September 20l I Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above mentioned Order under Section l6A of the Road Traf?c Regulation Act I984. This Order is to facilitate the holding of the annual Wantage Fairs between the 8th and I Ith September and the l4th and l6th October 2Ol l,which are promoted by Wantage Town Council, Council Offices, Portway, Wantage OX12 9BX.

The effects of die Order will be:

I. to prohibit all vehicles from Market Place (other than the north side carriage way between Wallingford Street and Mill Street) Alfred Street - from its junction with Mill Street to its junction with Market Place and Newbury Street - between its junction with Market Place and its junction with Church Street. Exemptions will be included for emergency services and for emergency works to utilities, plus in Newbury Street for taxis.

2. to suspend waiting restrictions in the following lengths of road so they become no waiting at any time: Market Place - North side From a point ll meters east of its junction with Grove Street for a distance of 20 meters eastward, and From a point 60 meters east of its junction with Grove Street for a distance of 20 meters eastward. Newbury Street -West side From a point I7 metres south of its junction with Market Place to a point 29 metres north of its junction with Church Street, but with an exemption for taxis

3. The one-way traffic restrictions in Market Place northern carriageway and in the length of Church Street southwards from Market Place, will be suspended so that they may be used in both directions.

4. The existing prohibition of heavy commercial vehicles in Mill Street will be temporarily suspended.

Altemative routes for traffic affected by the closure are: Nordibound/Southbound - via Portway, Ham Road, Mill Street and Market Place (northem carriagemny); or via Ormond Road andWallingford Street; Eastboundlwestbound - via Wallingford Street, Ormond Road, Portway, Ham Road, Mill Street and Market Place; or via Wallingford Street, Seesen Way, Grove Street, Grove Road, Mably Way, Denchworth Road, Mill Street and Market Place.

The relevant parts of the Oxfordshire County Council (Wantage) (Traffic Regulation)Order I994, and the Oxfordshire County Council (Mill Street, Wantage) (Width Restriction and Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles) Order I992, as affected by this event will be temporarily suspended.

The Order will operate from 6.00pm on Thursday 8th September 20l I to 8.00am on Sunday I Ith September 20l I and from 6.00pm on Friday l4th October 20l I to 8.00am on Sunday l6th October 20l I.

Documents including this notice,a copy of the proposed Order and suspended orders, maps showing the roads affected and diversion routes, and a Statement of Reasons for the proposed Order, are available for public inspection at County Hall, New Road, Oxford OXI IND from 9.00am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday, and at Wantage Library, Stirlings Road, Wantage, Oxon OXl2 7BB from 9.00am - 8.00pm Monday & Friday, 9.00am - 5.30pm Tuesday 8: Wednesday, 9.00am - l.00pm Thursday and 9.00am - 4.30pm Saturday.
