TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT SLIP ROAD CLOSURE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State for Transport has made an Order on the A34 Trunk Road, in the County of Oxfordshire, under section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.

The effect of the Order is to authorise the overnight closure of the slip road leading from the A415 to the southbound carriageway of A34 at Marcham Interchange near Abingdon. This is in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake essential carriageway repairs and all associated work.

It is expected that the work will last for approximately 3 nights over a 3 month period starting on or after Monday 15th August 2011 at the following times:

Monday - Thursday nights 2200-0530 hours
Friday night 22.30-0530 hours
Saturday night 2200-0600 hours
Sunday night 2230-0530 hours

The Order will come into force on 13th August 2011 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.

During the closure outlined above, traffic affected will be diverted north on the A34 to Hinksey Hill Interchange (A423 - Southern By-Pass Road) and return south on the A34 to Marcham Interchange (A415) near Abingdon.

The slip road closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when it is in operation during the works periods.
