TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT SLIP ROAD CLOSURE - THE A34 TRUNK ROAD, MARCHAM

THE A34 TRUNK ROAD - MARCHAM
INTERCHANGE, NORTHBOUND
TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT SLIP ROAD CLOSURE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State for Transport intends to make an Order on the A34 Trunk Road, near Abingdon in the County of Oxfordshire, under section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.

The effect of the Order would be to authorise the overnight closure of the slip road leading from the northbound carriageway of the A34 to the A415 (Marcham Road) at Marcham Interchange. This would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake essential carriageway repairs and all associated work.

It is expected that the work would last for approximately 3 nights over a 2 month period starting on or after Monday 22nd August 2011 between 2200 and 0600 hours.

The Order would come into force on 20th August 2011 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.

During the closure outlined above, traffic affected would be diverted to continue north on the A34 to Hinksey Hill Interchange (A423 Southern By-pass Road) and return south on the A34 to Marcham Interchange (A415).

The slip road closure and diversion route would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when it is in operation during the works periods.
