Notice of Temporary Traffic Order
East St Helen Street, Abingdon - Prohibition of Through Traffic
Date of Order: 1 August 2011
Coming into force: 8 August 2011

This Order is being introduced because of sewer repair works in part of East St Helen Street, Abingdon which is anticipated to take ten days to complete.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in that part of East St Helen Street from its junction with High Street to its junction with Lombard Street. Exemptions are included for police, fire and ambulance services and for the works and for vehicular access to adjacent premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

For the duration of the closure the Oxfordshire County Council (St Helen's Wharf Bridge, Abingdon) (Weight Restriction) Order 1978 will be temporarily suspended.

The alternative route for traffic is via High Street, Ock Street, Drayton Road, Caldecott Road, St Helen's Wharf, West St Helen Street and Lombard Street.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.
