Highways Agency - A34 Trunk Road - Marcham Interchange, Southbound
TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT SLIP ROAD CLOSURE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State for Transport intends to make an order on the A34 Trunk Road, in the county of Oxfordshire, under section 14 (1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order would be to authorise the overnight closure of the slip road leading from the A415 to the southbound carriageway of the A34 at Marcham Interchange near Abingdon. This would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake essential carriageway repairs and all associated work.
It is expected that the work would last for approximately 3 nights over a 3 month period starting on or after Monday 15th August 2011 at the following times:
Monday - Thursday nights 22.00-05.30 hours
Friday night 22.30-05.30 hours
Saturday night 22.00-06.00 hours
Sunday night 22.30-05.30 hours
The Order would come into force on 13th August 2011 and have a maximum duration of 18 months.
During the closure outlined above, traffic affected would be diverted north on the A34 to Hinksey Hill Interchange (A423 - Southern By-Pass Road) and return south on the A34 to Marcham Interchange (A415) near Abingdon.
The slip road closure and diversion route would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when it is in operation during the works periods.
