RADLEY crashed to a 134-run defeat at Charlbury as they could only watch and admire Ashley Rump’s magnificent opening day century in Division 1 on Saturday.
Rump smashed a sublime, unbeaten 196 as Charlbury racked up 274-7.
The visitors never got close in their reply, falling to 140 all out as Bimalka Liyanarachchi took 3-31.
In Division 2, there was an opening day hat-trick for Mark Baring – his first ever treble – as East & West Hendred thumped Witney Swifts by eight wickets.
Swifts must have regretted their decision to bat first as they were rolled over for just 79 as Baring took 3-20 and Kashif Rashid 3-9.
Promoted Wootton & Boars Hill lost by ten runs at Cairns Fudge.
Tom Small (54) helped Fudge post 153 all out.
However, Jamie Clark (4-23) and James Robertson (3-23) combined to dismiss the visitors for 143, despite 57 from Shaun Morton and 45 from Marc Glover.
Clifton Hampden lost by 93 runs at home to Wolvercote. Mohammed Shafqat shone, taking 4-20 to dismiss the hosts for 108.
In Division 4, newly-promoted Sunningwell edged past visitors Uffington by 17 runs.
Nigel Lovell top-scored with 51 in Sunningwell’s 131, Peter Jones taking 5-31 and Tom Fillery 4-14.
Martin Waugh (4-23) and Ben Roberts (3-13) combined to dismiss Uffington for 114.
Dorchester kicked off with a 35-run win at Watlington.
Richard Sharman’s 47 helped Dorchester to 148 all out, before Jasper Gooder took 4-19 in Watlington’s 113 all out.
Kennington crashed by 108 runs to Brill in Division 5.
Bill reached 200-7 thanks to Colin Young (63) before Andy Wynd claimed 4-11 as Kennington crashed to 92 all out.
Britwell Salome succumbed to Adam Bennett’s spell of 5-7 from ten tight overs as they lost by four wickets at home to Hook Norton.
Britwell made only 103 before Rob Webb (37) saw Hooky to 104-6.
In Division 6, a splendid unbeaten 76 from youngster Jack Tomes was in vain as Faringdon 2nd lost by six wickets at home to Wolvercote 2nd.
Faringdon posted 168-6, but Ben Madden (62no) and Chris Babbs (57no) shared an unbeaten century stand to guide Wolvercote to 170-4.
In Division 7, Wootton & Boars Hill saw off visitors Yarnton & Cowley 2nd by six runs.
After posting 168-5, Anthony Benson top-scoring with 39 not out, Wootton restricted their visitors to 162-9, Jack Ulyatt taking 3-33.
Heath Cooper starred for Chalgrove in their seven-wicket win over visitors Risinghurst 2nd.
Cooper took 6-19 in Risinghurst’s 81 all out, then scored 30 not out as Chalgrove reached 83-3.
Britwell Salome 2nd saw off hosts Stanton Harcourt 2nd by three wickets.
Chasing Stanton’s 140 all out, Britwell reached 145-7 thanks to Danish Mohammed who hit 50 not out.
