A samurai sword-wielding author visited a school to bring his novel to life for young people.
Chris Bradford entertained Year 7 pupils at Larkmead School, in Faringdon Road, Abingdon, with his debut book, The Way of the Warrior, the first instalment in a trilogy, The Young Samurai.
Mr Bradford arrived in the school dressed in a kimono and demonstrated samurai skills as featured in the book. He invited pupils to join in with some of the martial art moves.
The talk was organised by the town's Mostly Books bookshop, in Stert Street, and the school's learning resources centre manager Frances Stott.
Ms Stott said: "It was absolutely fantastic. Chris was so engaging. He really reached out to the kids, physically and mentally, as the martial arts really spoke to them.
"Through his presentation, Chris would refer back to the book with modern martial arts and all of the lads and the girls knew about martial arts. He would suddenly start leaping around and pull out a couple of kids and pretend to do some moves."
The Way of the Warrior tells the story of an English boy who finds himself in 17th-century Japan. He joins a samurai school to learn the martial art.
