A man has died outside of an Oxfordshire primary school.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon as Thames Valley Police were called to Charlton Village Road in Wantage by the ambulance service just after 2.10pm.

This followed reports that a man had suffered a medical incident and saw officers close the road in both directions between the junctions of Barnards Way and Aldworth Avenue.

The force has now revealed that South Central Ambulance Service confirmed that a man aged in his seventies was dead at the scene.

“The man’s next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by officers.

“The thoughts of all of Thames Valley Police are with his family at this very difficult time.

“The man’s death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Several emergency vehicles could be seen at the site as Thames Valley Police revealed that officers were dealing with a medical incident.
