AN annual football tournament to raise money for children’s charities is returning after five years.

Didcot based fundraising organisation Play2Give was founded in 2007 after hosting the first ever football tournament and now hopes to raise £15,000 to commemorate the anniversary.

Founder Andrew Baker, who has lived with a brain injury since birth, set up his organisation to continue the fundraising efforts for Oxford Children’s Hospital he started as a student at St Birinus School.

More than £360,000 has been raised for the hospital as well as other Oxfordshire charities since the charity was founded including brain injury organisation Headway Oxfordshire and Sobell House.

Mr Baker hopes to mark the 15-year milestone with £15,000 raised.

This year’s tournament will take place in July after a five-year absence to a new location of Wallingford Sports Park with teams aged 16 and over encouraged to sign up.

Team registration costs £60 each and on the day there will also be activities for the children including face painting, glitter tattoos, a coconut shy, bouncy castles and more.

The funds raised by this year's matches will be shared between the children's hospital, Headway Oxfordshire and SSNAP, a UK charity which provides “Support for the Sick Newborn and their Parents”.
